Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader inaugurated a six-lane by-pass road at Rupganj-Vogra-Joydevpur to Modonpur of Bandar upazila.
The road will be constructed in next three years.
In the opening ceremony at Rupganj upazila in Narayanganj the minister said that the road will be constructed under public private partnership project. In this regard, a contract was signed between a China company named Chhicuan Road and Bridge and two Bangladeshi companies named Shamim Enterprise Private Limited and UDC construction Limited.
The finance ministry will provide 223 crore taka and the rest amount will be invested by private companies, according to the contract. Land acquisition and service charges will cost Tk 500 crore. The construction companies will bear the rest amount Tk. 3276 crore.
In the project opening program among others textile and jute affairs minister Golam Dastogir Gazi, Birprotik, roads and highways engineer Jawad Alam, project director Shobujuddin Khan, Chinese Ambassador H E Lee Jimming were present.
