Narail water treatment plant handed over to municipality authority

 The Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) handed over a water treatment plant constructed at a cost of Tk 9 crore 96 lakh 99 thousand 995 on Tuesday noon.

The water treatment plant, which was constructed at Rupganj Bustand area of the town, was handed over to municipal authority which refining capacity 350 cubic meter.

Deputy Commissioner of Narail Anjuman Ara was present at the Water Treatment Plant handing over function as the chief guest, chaired by the superintendent engineer Md. Jamanur Rahman of the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) Khulna Circle.

Additional Superintendent of Police Sheikh Imran, Executive Engineer of the Department of Public Health Engineering Narail Md Farooq Ahmed, Narail Municipality Mayor Md Jahangir Biswas were present as special guests in  the ceremony. Besides, Public Health Upazila Engineer Md. Mahmudul Ala, Officials of the Department of Public Health Engineering, Municipal Officials were also present on the occasion.

DPHE sources said, the water treatment plant constructed at Narail Municipality under the Water Supply Project in the 37 districts town under the Department of Public Health Engineering has the capacity to purify 350 cubic meter of water per hour.

The plant is a high power water treatment plant. The purified water of the water treatment plant has been examined in the Khulna laboratory and it has been handed over to the municipal authorities, as it is eligible for drinking. In Narail municipality, about two lakh people will come under safe water through pipelines under the water treatment plant.

Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) Narail Executive Engineer Md. Farooq Ahmed said that the water treatment plant set up in the municipal area was a timely step. Due to the water supply of the water treatment plant, there will be no shortage of fresh water in the municipal area. The quality of life of the people will improve. In addition to the safe drinking water facilities, the municipality will be free from water-borne diseases including cholera, typhoid, stool, he said.
