Narail passport office earns Tk 2cr revenue in 4 months

Revenue income of district passport office has started increasing due to the increase in the quality of services at the passport office in Narail district.  In the last four months, the passport office earned revenue of Tk one crore 99 lakh 77 thousand, sources said. 

In July, the office earned 49 lakh 38 thousand taka, while the office  earned 41 lakh 85 thousand taka in August, 54 lakh 84 thousand taka in September and the office earned revenue income of Tk 53 lakh 70 thousand in October. 

The regional passport office sources said, a total of 5,912 people applied for passports in Narail office during July, August, September and October this year. Of them, 1,480 were applied in July, 1,260 in August, 1,652 in September and 1,520 people applied for passport in October. 

In the four months, a total of 4,251 passports were issued to the passport holders. Increase the quality of services in the shortest possible time passport applicants was in the hands of a strict surveillance of the officers. Due to the strict scrutiny of passport officials, the brokers are not seen in or outside of the office. 

Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) of the Narail Regional Passport Office Md. Masum Billah said that effective measures coupled with stringent monitoring system the district passport office here recorded increasing trend of earning revenue in the last four months.

Talking to the Bangladesh Post, he said that the monitoring system has been strengthened to ensure that passport candidates do not suffer harassment. The monitoring system with installation of help desk and CC cameras have expedited issuance of increasing number of passport by the stipulated time. Anyone with the help of helpdesk can complete all the tasks of transferring a passport. Foreign outgoing people expressed satisfaction with the increase in passport service quality, he added. 

He further said, “Nowadays, the applicants do not suffer and get their passports without delay following strict surveillance of the passport officials, employees and the middlemen are no more seen in and around the passport office.”
