Nanak eyes smart textiles, Jute sector modernization

The newly-appointed Textile and Jute Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak expressed his commitment to advancing the production of smart textiles and jute sector through efficient planning and swift implementation.

During a meeting, held at his Dhanmondi residence on Friday, he said this where Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute Md. Abdur Rauf, and other senior officials from the Ministry were present. 

Nanak said, “The importance of incorporating new innovations in the jute and textile sector, aligning with the vision of ‘Imagination-2041’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”

“We are dedicated to modernizing the jute and textile sector, contributing to the realization of the 'Imagination-2041' vision. Our focus is on leveraging new innovations to expand the country’s investment, cultivate skilled human resources, generate employment opportunities, and boost exports,” he added

The minister, who assumed office after taking the oath on Thursday, brings a wealth of experience to the role. Previously elected as an MP from Dhaka-13 in the 12th National Parliament Election, Nanak served as the State Minister of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives in 2009. His dedication to public service is further underscored by his reelection in 2014 from the same constituency.
