The name of Freedom Fighter Naib Ali Biswas, Acting President of Ishwardi Upazila Awami League, has been announced as the Awami League candidate for by-election in chairman post of Ishwardi Upazila Parishad in Pabna.
A meeting of the Awami League's Local Government Representative Nomination Board was held at Ganabhaban in Dhaka on Friday afternoon with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair. The name of Naib Ali Biswas was announced after the meeting of the Nomination Board, said sources.
According to the Ishwardi Election Office, Pabna District Election Office has announced the schedule for the by-election through a public notification. The by-election will be held on December 10. The last date for submission of nomination papers is November 15 and the date for allotment of symbols is November 24.
Naib Ali Biswas expressed his satisfaction over decision of the party’s high command. He is hopeful over victory in the by-election.
