Musical film ‘Baba’ wins award in India

Recently the musical film titled 'Baba' gets award in India. It is set against the backdrop of the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Directed by Raymond Salomon.

The film was selected as the best musical film in India at the International Film Festival of India 2020. Nafisa Shama sang the song of this film. The awards ceremony was held on March 19 at the Sin City Rooftop Resto & Lounge in Mumbai, India.

The director of the film Raymond Salomon studied at the Australian Film Radio and Television School about filmmaking.

 Regarding the film he said, “From the beginning, my dream is that Bangladeshi artistes will work regularly in the international arena. Then I study filmmaking. Besides, immigration law profession and studies I have taken course on filmmaking. Now I want to tell the world all the wonderful stories and history of Bangladesh through my direction. It all started with the work 'Baba'.

On August 18 last year, the 6-minute musical film 'Baba' was released on YouTube. Raymond said the film has been screened in more than 60 film exhibitions around the world. From there, he has won 10 honours so far.

For 18 years Raymond, who grew up in Bangladesh, has been in Australia. At one time he worked as an aviator in Bangladesh Air Force. In 2003 he left and moved to Australia.
