Music Director Basudev Ghosh is no more. He died last Sunday at 11pm at Birdem Hospital in the capital. For a long time he was suffering from heart problems. He was first taken to Abeer General Hospital in Eskaton on Sunday evening due to sudden breathing problems and chest pains. Doctors there said he had a heart attack. He was later taken to Birdem Hospital. Later, doctors pronounced him dead around 11:15pm there.
Last respects towards him were paid at Channel-i square on Monday morning. From there his body was taken to Boalkhali, Chittagong, his birthplace. His last rituals were organized at Kanungo Para there.
Tomar Oi Montake Ekta Dhulomakha Poth Kore Dao, Tumi Hariye Jaowar Somoy Amay Songe Nio, Ami Khuje Berai Amar Ma, PUrte Chaile Dujon Ei Kore Kete 12ti Bochhor, Dhol, Deho, Amar MOner Parae Rashtro Hoye Gechhere, Ami Tomay Bhalobeshechhi, Madol are some of the songs out of numerous titles whose music has been directed by Basudev Ghosh. The mixed album ‘Ekti Nari Obujh’ is one of is most well known works.
He has a very good reputation as a music director, especially of the eternal Bangla songs. He has gained equal popularity in the country as well as across the borders. Meanwhile, Cultural Affairs Minister KM Khalid has conveyed his sympathy for the passing of the renowned music director through a release towards the press.
Basu's dream album comes to halt
Basudev Ghosh was working on an album with a 1000 patriotic songs. It was named ‘Surjaloke Sanito Praner Gaan’. About 900 songs were also completed. Basudev said he would submit the work and the relevant documents to the Guinness Book of World Records office. He left this job unfinished. Regarding this album Basu said, “This is the album of my dreams. Most of my life is spent working on making these songs. Along the way, famed lyricists have written many new lyrics for the album. I love that the country's most famous artistes and new artistes are all singing on this album.”

On the occasion of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, celebrative programmes have been organised across the country. Besides the ordinary people, the people of the showbiz courtyard are also busy organizing various tributes to pay their respects to this great person. During this time, composer and music director Basu Dev Ghosh was working on a 20-song album about Bangabandhu. The music director also completed some songs of the album. Before he was able to finish his work, he left this life for the world of no return. The death of the music director has brought a gloom to the music industry.
