On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the arrival of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Dohar and Nawabganj, the Nawabganj Upazila Awami League of Dhaka held a colorful rally on Tuesday morning.
Later, a discussion meeting was held at Abdul Wasek Auditorium and a mural of Bangabandhu was inaugurated at the premises of Upazila Administration Building.
It may be mentioned that on 22 September 1970, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman came to Nawabganj, Dohar on a political visit. It is learned that today's event was organized to commemorate the day of Bangabandhu's arrival.
Speakers at the discussion said that in order to build the golden Bengal of father of the nation, following the plan left by Bangabandhu, his worthy daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is leading the state and taking Bangladesh forward. As a result, Bangladesh is not backward now.
Nawabganj Upazila Awami League President and Upazila Parishad Chairman Nasir Uddin Ahmed Jhilu presided over the function.
