Munshiganj police crack robbery case mystery

Munshiganj district police held a press briefing about the clueless robbery case that took place in Baligaon market of Tongibari police station. A press briefing was held at the conference room of the Superintendent of Police at around 11:30 on Tuesday. In a press briefing, Munshiganj Police Superintendent Mahfuzur Rahman Al Mamun said that on December 29, in the case of a heinous robbery in Baligaon market of Tongibari police station, with the help of special information technology, a close observation and investigation was started regarding the arrested robbers along with the collection of footage of the scene, global location tracking and robbery cases of neighboring districts. Some of the robbers were identified in the data analysis of the crime scene. Among the identified robbers, the accused ar Shafiqul Islam (27), Farid Howladar (45), Anwar Hossain (42), Abdur Sobhan Dhali (32), Kamal Khan (41), Delwar Khalifa (37), Farooq Kha ( 21), Kalu Howladar (38), Hiran Talukder (43) and Milan Khalifa (31) were shown arrested. When the arrested robbers confessed their involvement in the incident and revealed the names and addresses of the other robbers, the investigating officer SI (retd) Al Mamun identified the dacoits. 

The arrested robbers admitted their involvement in the robbery. At the same time, looted cash of 10 thousand taka and 1 lock cutter, 2 sables, 2 iron rods and 1 screwdriver were recovered from the custody of arrested Shaheen Sheikh (22) and Sirajul Madbar (28). The speedboat used in the robbery has already been seized.

He also said that the arrested persons are all members of inter-district robbery gangs and they have been organizing robberies in different places at different times or divided into small groups.

 Besides, among the arrested robbers, 08 people are residents of Madaripur, 06 people are from Shariatpur and 01 people are known to be residents of Brahmanbaria. The case is currently under investigation. A police report will be filed after completing the investigation of the case based on the necessary evidence.
