Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, country’s cattle markets have started drawing huge crowds. Munshiganj is no different as a great number of buyers and sellers are gathering to trade sacrificial animals.

Despite almost eight more days left to Eid, the number of cows in hats and bazars has not been seen so widely like other years.

Specially, cows of sacrifice come from Sirajganj, Pabna, Rajshahi, Natore, Faridpur, Madaripur, Rajbari and other districts in the bazars of Munshiganj district.

In Munshiganj, cows were also fattened for sale ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. However, the traditional cows of Mirakadim in Munshiganj district have made fresh offerings for sale in front of the Eid.The leukoderma cows once attracted the attention of the most of the people in the district.

Over time, the price of the commodity increased, and the effort was made to keep the tradition from being able to compete with the cows from other districts. However, the buyer of the cattle is not too eye-catching because of its price.

Talking to Aaron, the owner of fattening farm of Mirkadim, it is clear that the 100-year-old traditional Mirkadim cattle are on their way to disappear.

Already, cattle traders from Sirajganj and Pabna have joined the cattle market with their cattle. On Friday, many cows arrived at the cattle sales hut bisik field. Although the sacrifice is still around nine days.

Talking to Shamim, a cattle trader from Shahjadpur in Sirajganj said we usually brought cows before eid at this time. This is because, if the cow brings early, we have the opportunity to take care of and the cow becomes healthy.

Moreover, they have brought cows to the hut in advance because of the floods in the north.
