The absence of a paved road in Binodpur, located in the Mohammadpur upazila of Magura, seriously hampers communication between the village and the district town, causing immense problems for the residents of the area.
Thousands of people from ten adjacent villages are unable to access emergency facilities, and they are deprived of development opportunities due to the lack of proper transportation infrastructure.
This is the current situation of the Narayanpur-Paniyabahu road, which connects Balidia to two unions from Binodpur in the Mohammadpur upazila of Magura. The dirt road has now turned into a muddy field, and during the monsoon season, it becomes impassable for the people of approximately 10 villages due to heavy rainwater.
The road stretches about two kilometers, filled with potholes and tears, resembling a paddy field. The lack of pavement has caused prolonged suffering for the local residents.
Upon closer inspection, it is evident that the road has turned into a rut due to the combination of soil and water, with multiple areas experiencing severe erosion. Thousands of farmers, students, teachers, and individuals from various professions rely on this road for commuting.
Around 400 students from Paniyabahu Kawra Kaderia Aleem Madrasa use this road, and nearby, Parbhatpara Government Primary School accommodates 300 students who have to navigate through these challenging conditions.
It's not uncommon for students to slip in the mud, leading to significant hardships during the monsoon season.
Israfil, a third-grade student at Paniyabahu Government Primary School, shared that he struggles to travel to school during the monsoons, and his school dress gets ruined in the muddy water. The paving of the road is of utmost importance.
Anwar Hossain, a resident living next to the road, lamented the lack of attention from public representatives. He noted that during elections, the road is often discussed, but once the election is over, it seems to be forgotten. Due to the poor road conditions, the children in their area even face challenges in finding suitable marriage partners.
Binodpur UP Chairman, Shikdar Mizanur Rahman, acknowledged the significance of the road, as it is used by people from approximately 10 villages. He mentioned that he has received information that roadwork will commence during the current financial year.
Engineer Muhammad Saddam Hossain, the Mohammadpur Upazila Engineer from LGED (Local Government Engineering Department), stated that the road is part of a renovation project and expressed hope that the road renovation work will commence soon.
