Mubina Asaf receives Inspiring Woman Leader Award

Mubina Asaf, Head of Legal and External Affairs at BAT Bangladesh, has been recognized with the prestigious “Inspiring Woman Leader” award at the 6th Inspiring Women Award gala event held recently through a virtual event.    

Over the years, Bangladesh Brand Forum has utilized the platform to honor successful female professionals who stand as inspiration for the next generation of female professionals. Despite the legal profession being a male-dominated one, Mubina Asaf has triumphed in overcoming numerous challenges and established herself as a seasoned lawyer during her the illustrious career of 25 years.   

Being the first female to lead the Head of Legal and External Affairs function of BAT Bangladesh in its 110 years of operations in the country, Mubina Asaf has been instrumental to the success of the company and an inspiration for young female managers working at the organization. 

Under her leadership, the organization has garnered recognition for successfully embedding the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) at the front and center of everything it does. During her tenure, BAT Bangladesh has won innumerable accolades, especially in the areas of impactful public-private partnerships, corporate compliance, and governance.  

Upon receiving this year's Inspiring Women Award, Mubina Asaf said, “This award is really special for me.  Speaking from my own experience, women must be very confident and independent to fulfill their dreams.  It is not possible to achieve the goal without concentrating on one's own desires. I would like to dedicate this award to all the brave women out there.” 

In addition to her busy professional life, Mubina Asaf is also a board member of Prerona Foundation which supports the Bangladesh Government towards fulfilling the SGDs through key projects on women empowerment, farmer sustainability and skill development. 

She also serves as a board member of SEID Trust, a non-governmental voluntary organization realizing the rights of specially-abled individuals. She is also one of the founder members and president of “Care in Need,” a home-care service that assists senior family members, and one of the sponsors of “Astha,” an organization working for street children.
