In a significant move to foster direct dialogue and mutual understanding, the international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) hosted a "Café de la Presse" event in Cox's Bazar Thursday.
The session, attended by members of the Cox's Bazar and Ukhiya Press Clubs, served as a vital platform for open conversation between local journalists and MSF representatives.
The event commenced with a warm welcome for the guests, followed by a brief presentation on MSF's history, core principles, and its ongoing humanitarian operations in Bangladesh.
A lively question-and-answer session ensued, where journalists posed important queries regarding MSF's commitment to the local and refugee populations, the scope of their activities, and future plans in the region.
The panel was chaired by Elko Brummelman, MSF’s Deputy Country Representative in Bangladesh. He was joined by other key figures, including Head of Mission Jason Mills, Pooja Iyer, François Haget, Deputy Medical Coordinators Dr. Wasim Fairuz and Dr. Rezwanur Rahman Masum, and Human Resources Coordinator Babar Sardar Nawaz.
During the panel discussion, the MSF delegation highlighted the organization's ongoing role in providing healthcare, emergency medical assistance, and humanitarian response during crises in Cox's Bazar and Ukhiya. They reaffirmed MSF's commitment to standing by both the host community and the refugee population, ensuring the continuous delivery of impartial, quality healthcare.
