Defending champions Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) and runner-up Abahani Kira Chakra Limited (AKCL) will lock horns in an epic encounter in the 35th edition of the Federation Cup Football in Group B at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium Gopalganj at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Both teams assured the last eight with one match to spare at two separate venues across the country on January 30.

The two traditional rivals, MSC and AKCL, who maintained their all-win runs in the group, securing six points from two outings, will meet each other to decide the group champions.

AKCL is in the top position on goal difference. The Sky Blue Brigade scored nine goals and conceded nil in two encounters, while the Black & Whites scored four and conceded two goals. The Motijheel outfit now has two goals in their account.

Abahani won their last match against Chittagong Abahani by 3-0 goals after dominating the first half with a 1-0 goal at the Baahundhara Kings Arena Stadium last Tuesday.

Brazilian forward Bruno opened the account for the popular Sky Blue in the 43rd minute, while Nigerian striker Emeka doubled the Abahani margin in the 47th minute.

Brazilian striker Washington Brandao scored a hat trick in Abahani's 6-0 victory over Brothers Union Club and scored the third goal in the 83rd minute of the match.

Later, he was adjudged player of the match. Meanwhile, Mohammedan defeated Brothers Union (BU) by 2-1 goals at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj on the same day.

After a barren first half, local booter Sourav Dewan put the traditional black and whites Mohammedan ahead in the 66th minute (1-0), while Uzbek forward Otabek levelled the margin for the Gopibagh outfit Brothers Union just three minutes later (1-1).

Local forward Jafar Iqbal scored the match-winning goal for Mohammedan SC in the 85th minute (2-1). After the day's second consecutive defeats, both the Chittagong Abahani and Brothers Union Club were eliminated from the Federation Cup Football race with one match to spare with each other on February 13.
