Bangladesh Primer League (BPL)’s debutant Mrittunjoy Chowdhury has sealed this season’s first hat-trick for Chattogram Challengers as they have won a high-scoring battle against Sylhet Sunrisers by 16 runs at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on Saturday.
When Anamul Haque and Colin Ingram batted, Sylhet appeared to be favorites to win the match, but timely wickets and, most significantly, Mrittunjoy’s hat-trick ensured they did not lose the match after scoring the tournament's first 200-plus total.
Will Jacks continued to amaze with his hitting abilities, becoming the tournament's second batter to reach the half-century mark while on the powerplay.
When Jacks was dismissed, Chattogram were 62 for one in 4.4 overs, the third-fastest fifty in BPL history. Jacks made 52 out of a possible 19. He hit seven fours and three sixes in his innings.
Mrittunjoy became the third Bangladeshi bowler to bag a hattrick in the BPL after Al-Amin Hossain and Aliss Al Islam. The left-arm seamer finished with a match-turning three for 33.
