MP Nahid distributes relief goods to Sundarganj flood victims

Member of Parliament (MP) Abdullah Nahid Niger distributed dry foods and other relief items to the flood affected people of Sundarganj on Monday.

The flood situation has turned acute in Sundarganj upzila of Gaibandha district. Many houses were submerged under water and almost 30,000 families were marooned due to the flood.

The damage was less in the first phase of the flood. However, the water level in Teesta and Brahmputra River increased at an unusual rate due to the renewed flash flood and heavy rain.

The water level in Teesta and Brahmaputra River has crossed the danger level.

Among the 15 unions under Sundarganj Upazila, six unions were affected. The affected unions are Haripur, Chandipur, Sreepur, Kapasia, Belka and Tarapur.

Local Member of Parliament (MP) Abdullah Nahid Niger visited the six flood affected unions and distributed dry foods, along with various other items, among the affected families.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Tariqul Islam, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md Walif Mondol, Officer-in-Charge of Sundarganj Police Station Mahbub Alam and journalists working in the Upazila were present at that time. The flood affected families forgot their hardship when MP Abduallah Nahid Niger visited them. They expressed their satisfaction after seeing her. MP Nahid Niger listened to their struggles and hardships and discussed about their problems with them.

MP Nahid Niger told the flood affected people that she will solve the problems regarding roads, culverts, bridges, community clinics and educational institutions.

The women of the flood affected families prayed for MP Nahid Niger’s well-being and longevity when she gave them such assurance.
