Movies released in 2019 at a glance

The new year is knocking at the door this whole year will go into the list of memories. A new year will bring new potential for Bangladesh. Everyone expects the New Year to sprout like green leaf after the fiery fall. Like the past few years, the current year has not been as pleasant for cinema as well. In addition to the local cinema, the film arena has seen some combined works as well. The number of movies released is quite few, out of that the number of successful cinemas is fewer. The films which were successful can be counted on fingers. A Mizan writes about all the cinemas which have been released in 2019.

Only one movie was released in January earlier this year. The cinemas began with the releases of ‘I Am Raj’ directed by M Azad. The fil starred Raj Ibrahim, Sabrina Mamia, Sadek Bachchu, Amir Siraji and others.

In the next month, two films titled ‘Amar Prem Amar Bhalobasha’ and ‘Dag Hridoye’ were released. Among them, Porimoni and Kayes Arju played the lead roles in ‘Amar Prem Amar Bhalobasha’ directed by Shamul Islam Shamim.

On the other hand, in the film ‘Dag Hridoye’ about triangle love directed by Tarek Sikder, we saw Bappi Chowdhury, Bidha Sinha Mim and Achol. The story of this film is written by Kamal Ahmed, dialogue and screenplay by Mohammad Rafiquzzaman. The film also stars Aruna Biswas, Shatabdi Wadud and many others.

On February 21, the film ‘Fagn Hawa’ was released in the context of the Language Movement. Nusrat Imroz Tisha and Siam Ahmed starred in the film directed by Touqir Ahmed. Impress Telefilm produced the film inspired by Tito Rahman’s ‘Bou Katha Kou’.

In this film, Tisha and Siam along with Abul Hayat, Afroza Banu, Farooq Hossain, Saju Khadem, Azad Shetu, Bollywood actor Yashpal Sharma and many others acted in it. Another film was released on the same day titled ‘Ratrir Janti’ directed by Habibul Islam Habib, the film stars Moushumi, Anisur Rahman Milon, ATM Shamsuzzaman, Aruna Biswas, Shahidul Alam Sachchu, Samrat, Salauddin Lavlu, and others.

Two more films were released in the month of Language Movement – ‘Hridoye Rongdhonu’ and joint production ‘Prem Amar 2’. Mina Petkovic, Muhtasin Sajal, Shams Qader starred in the film ‘Hridoye Rongdhonu’ directed by Rajibul Hossain. On the other hand, Puja Cherry starred in ‘Prem Amar 2’ directed by Vidula Bhattacharya, and many others, including Adrito, Sourav Das, Champa and others.

A total of five films were released in March. One of these is Uttam Akash directed ‘Boyfriend’. Taskin Rahman, Semanti Soumi, Amit Hassan and many others acted in it. The other is ‘Jodi Ek din’, directed by Muhammad Mostafa Kamal Raj. Through this film singer Tahan Khan made his debut on the big screen as an actor. Srabonti, the heroine of Kolkata, paired with him in the film.

The movie ‘Bou Bazar’, directed by Mukul Netrabadi, was also released. Shahriyaz, Raha Tanha, Rehana Jolly acted in it. On March 22, ‘Karon Tomay Bhalobashi’ was released where Sabbir Ahmed, Bithi Rani Sarkar and Nazifa Chowdhury acted under the direction of Gulam Mostafa Shimul. The last movie of the month was ‘Live from Dhaka’. Mostafa Monowar, Tasnova Tamanna and many others acted in the film directed by Abdullah Mohammad Saad.

Cinema drought was again seen in the theaters of the country in April. Only two movies were released this month. ‘Protishodher Agun’, directed by Mohammad Aslam where Zayed Khan, Mou Khan, Shahriyaz, Naz and many others acted. Also, ‘Alpha’ was released by Nasir Uddin Yusuf Bachchu. The film stars ATM Shamsuzzaman, Alamgir Kabir, Doyel Mash. It was also nominated for Oscar in the Foreign Film category.

The movie drought in April intensified because no movie was released in May. However, the next month was very much like a flood. A total of 6 films were released in June. These are ‘Abar Bashonto’, ‘Aloy Bhubon Bhara’, ‘The Director’, ‘Nolok’, ‘Password’, ‘Bhalobashar Uttap’.

Three movies were released in July. In this, Saif Chandan directed ‘Abbas’ starring Nirob, Sohana Saba, Suchana Azad, Joy Raj and others. The film ‘Onuprobesh’ was released in this month too by Tapas Kumar Dutt. Anwar Sayem, Sanjida Islam, Piyush Bandyopadhyay played in it. Further released was ‘Kalo Megher Vela’ based on the novel by the poet Nirmalandu Goon. Apon, Runa Khan and Suman Biswas acted in this film directed by Mrittika Goon. Out of these three imported films of Kolkata were released— ‘Kidnapp’, ‘Shesh Theke Shuru’, and ‘Bibaho Obhijaan’.

Four films were released in August. Among them, Emon, Irin and Danny Sidak starred in ‘Akash Mahal’ directed by Delwar Jahan Jhontu. Moushumi Hamid, Shipon Mitra, Abid Rehan starred in the ‘Bhalobashar Rajkonna’ directed by Raju Alam. Shakil Khan, Arpa, Shabnam Parveen, Afzal Sharif acted in ‘Bhalobashar Jala’ directed by Bashir Ahmed. Shakib Khan starred in the film ‘Moner Moto Manush Pailam Na’ also released in this month. Shabnam Bubly starred opposite Shakib Khan in the film directed by Zakir Hossain Raju. Other performers were Misha Sawdagar, Kazi Hayat, Saberi Alam, Tariq Anam Khan and many others.

Four films were released in September. Mahia Mahi starred in ‘Abotar’ directed by Mahmud Hasan Shikdar. In contrast, there was newcomer Rusho. Apart from this, Amin Khan has played an important role. Popular actress Nusrat Imroz Tisha and Yash Rohan released their first movie ‘Mayaboti’ earlier this month. Director Arun Chowdhury has made the movie about the story of the trafficking of women and the fate of a girl. In the same month, Kamal Sarkar’s film Paglami’ was released where Bappi Chowdhury and Sraboni Roy acted. Apart from this, the celebrated actress Bidya Sinha Mim and popular hero Arifin Shuvo’s film ‘Sapaludo’ were released. Salahuddin Lavlu, Tariq Anam Khan, Zahid Hassan, Shatabdi Wadud, Runa Khan and many others have acted in various roles in the film directed by Gulam Sohrab Dodul. Apart from this, the Kolkata film ‘Panther’ was released in the same month.

The ‘Dongiri’ movie was released in October. No more films were released this month. Shah Alam Mondal created the film about a love Triangle. The lead character is Bappi Chowdhury, Anisur Rahman Milon and newcomer Emia Emi. Apart from this, an imported photo of Kolkata called ‘Bachchan’ was also released.

In November, there were 5 local films and three imported films. The local made are- Harunuzzaman directed ‘Padmar Prem’. It stars Irin Sultana, Sumit, Sadek Bachchu, Jayanto Chattopadhyay and others; ‘Begum Jan’, directed by Mohammad Aslam. Eamon and Shirin Sheila acted in it. The first omnibus film of the country with 11 short-length films, ‘Iti Tomari Dhaka’. It was directed by 11diretors.

‘No Dorai’, the country’s first movie based on surfing, was released in November. The film directed by Tanim Rahman Angshu starred Shariful Raj, Sunerah Binte Kamal, Sayeed Babu and many others. The film is still screening in a number of theaters. Beyond this, three films of Kolkata—‘Kantho’, ‘Janbaz’ and ‘Password’ were released.

The last month of the calendar year is December. Four movies have been released so far this month. These include the Uttam Akash directed ‘Prem Chor’. Newcomers Shanto Khan and Neha Amandeep acted in it. Kazi Maruf, Orin, Rubel, Amit Hassan acted in ‘Garments Sromik Zindabad’ directed by Mostafizur Rahman Babu. ‘FaraiziAndolon 1842’ has been released by Dayel Rahman. The film is based on the biography of Dudu Mia, the leader of the Faraizi movement. Amin Khan and Nausheen Nehrin Mou acted in the lead roles. Last month, singer Asif Akbar released the film ‘Gohiner Gaan’. It is composed by Sadat Hossain. The film is based on four songs sung by Asif. Toma Mirza, Aman Reza, Tanjika Amin and Hassan Imam have played different roles in this.

Meanwhile, on December 27 the last film of the year, ‘Maya: The Lost Mother,’ is going to be released. Jyotika Jyoti played the central role in the film, a government-aided film directed by Masud Pathik. The film is based on the paintings of painter Shahabuddin Ahmed and the poem ‘Juddhoshishu’ by poet Kamal Chowdhury.

On the same day, Orchita Sporshia acted ‘Kathbirali’ will be released. Asaduzzaman Abir and Sayeed Zaman Shaon have acted in it along with Tasnimul Taj and directed by Niyamul Mukta.
