Jakia Sultana, Secretary of Industry Ministry said, Sugar and Food industries has been working continuously to encourage farmers to produce quality sugarcane through providing high varieties sugarcane. Bangladesh Sugar Industry will be returned in profit again. Some steps have been taken for going to goal of the industries.
She also added, marginal sugarcane growers will be motivated to cultivate sugarcane and sugar mills will return to progress in the field again.
She said it to local journalists after visiting Darshana Sugar Mills and a demonstration plot of sugarcane at village Bashotti Aria in Sadar
upazila of Chuadanga district on September 17.
Arifur Rahman Opu, Chairman of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industry Corporation, Golam Moyeen, Chairman of Bangladesh American Tobacco Company, Mohammad Aminul Islam Khan, DC, Abu Tarek, Additional Police Super, Mosharaf Hossain, Managing Director of Darshana Sugar Mills, Sheikh Shahabuddin, General Manager (GM) of Darshana Sugar Mills, Shamim Buyan, UNO of Sadar Upazila, Sanzida Begum, UNO of Damurhuda Upazila, Saiful Islam, GM (finance), Ashraful Alam, GM (agriculture), Sumon Kumar, GM (factory) and others were present during the visit of the secretary.
After completing the visit Jakia Sultana, Secretary of Industry Ministry, met with high officials of Darshana Sugar Mills, staffs and some farmers, and discussed for progressing sugarcane cultivation and implementation the new technology at the grass root level.
