The fight between the female protagonist of a film and the villain is seen often on screen. However, this time the fight is going to be outside the world of visuals. Popular actress Moushumi is going to fight against renowned villain in the Bengali cine-world Misa Sawdagar. They are going to fight opposing each other and fight for votes.
Two panels are fighting in the upcoming elections of Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association. One is Moushumi-DATayeb and the other is Misa Sawdagar and Zayed Khan panel.
Candidates got the opportunity to receive the nomination on Tuesday from 10am to 5pm. Sixty nominations were received from two panels for a total of twenty one candidates. It has been reported that no one has purchased the nomination papers individually in this year's elections.
At 2pm on Tuesday, Zayed Khan, Emon, Subrata, Jasmine and many others from the Misha-Zayed Khan panel received nomination papers from the Elias Kanchan, Chief Election Commissioner, at BFDC. Dance choreographer Masum Babul was present with them at the time.
Moushumi and DA Tayeb came to the office of the association to receive the nomination papers at around 4pm. They received the nomination papers from Elias Kanchan.
After receiving the nomination papers, Mousumi said, “We have taken thirty forms for 21 candidates. Additional forms have been taken as some forms may get ruined through errors. We will set up our own panel within the next two days. It will then be informed who the other candidates are in the panel because many people assured us of going into election with us. But they have not gotten back to us about it. So I am not saying who they are yet.”
She also promised on what she will do if she wins elections. She further said that she would re-think about the members of the association who were excluded. No matter who the winner is she urged all the artistes to work together. Her husband, Omar Sani, was present when she received the nominations.
Meanwhile, the FDC premise is abuzz surrounding the elections. Senior artiste Elias Kanchan is serving as the Chief Election Commissioner this time. Shamsul Alam Khan, general secretary of the producers association, is serving as chairman of the three-member appeal board. The other two members are directors Sohanur Rahman and Rashidul Amin.
On 26 September the bi-yearly election for 2019-21 began through the announcement of the schedule. The names of the 449 members were released on the draft voter list on Friday.
Nomination papers can be submitted to the Election Commissioner from 12 noon to 5pm today, October 3. The draft list of the candidates will be published at 5pm that day. The last day to withdraw the nomination is October 5. The final candidate list will be published on that day.
