The Bangali nation observes with a heavy heart the month of August as the month of mourning to recall the barbaric killing on the 15th August, 1975. After the killing of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bangali of all times, a pall of gloom descends and a sense of deep sadness grips the nation every year when this month (August) appears.
We recall the most brutal assassination in our history and renew the pledge to safeguard perpetually the country’s independence and sovereignty as the month of mourning begins today (Thursday). The killing of Sheikh Mujib and most of his family members on the fateful night of August 15, 1975, is the ugliest chapter of the nation’s history. The month of August is also black-marked with another conspiracy of assassination.
We cannot ever forget the heinous attempt to kill Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina through grenade attacks. The vested quarter, who assassinated Sheikh Mujib in 1975, also tried to destroy Awami League (AL) by killing its president Sheikh Hasina with grenades on an anti-terrorism rally at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital Dhaka on August 21 in 2004.
When a favourable situation was being created in war-torn Bangladesh after independence, the assassination of the Bangabandhu on August 15 was perpetrated. The killers not only assassinated Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman and his family members but also the spirit of the Great Liberation War of the Bangali nation, progress, prosperity and the bright future.
Anti-liberation and communal
forces led by BNP-Jamaat-Shibir
get active across the country
in every August
We have noticed that the anti-liberation and communal forces led by BNP-Jamaat-Shibir get active across the country in every August. When the month of August starts in Bangladesh there is an ache of losses and we seen to be possessed by some sort of panic.
However, we bade farewell to the last month (July) amid a series of violence, arson terrorism vandalism and brutal killings carried out by BNP-Jamaat-Shibir across the capital Dhaka and other parts of the country. The violence left at least 200 people dead and many injured in the capital Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.
At least 30 major establishments, including the main building of Bangladesh Television, two metro rail stations, Khaja Tower, hub of the city’s internet data cables, Setu Bhaban along with the vehicles of police and BGB were torched and severely damaged by protesters during the anti-quota movement in the last month.
We became horrified by the vandalism and destruction. The terrorist group has already created anarchy across the country using educational institutions. Being benefitted politically, the anti-liberation forces are always hatching conspiracies capitalising on any issue both at home and abroad.
We believe there would be no compromise with the descendants of the anti-liberation forces as they are out to hatch a conspiracy to grab the state power through clandestine alleyways. We believe the Bangali nation will not bow down to anyone as it has friends in the international arena, but no masters.
It is clear to all now that military dictator Ziaur Rahman was the mastermind behind the assassination of the Bangabandhu and most of his family members in 1975 as the BNP admits it by chanting the slogan. On the other hand, BNP fugitive Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, elder son of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia was the mastermind behind the August 21 grenade attack.
When the month of August appears, the murderous character of the BNP-Jamaat-Shibir gets desperate as the party is afraid of facing the truth of this month. We people imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War have to remain alert against the murders and anti-liberation forces. No one will dare think of carrying out any fresh massacre like August 15 in 1975 and August 21 in 2004, violence and arson attacks like in 2013, 2014, 2015 and the month of July this year.
