Moulvibazar’s Kashmir Hillock becomes popular among tourists

Juri upazila of Moulvibazar is a popular destination for tourists due to the breathtaking natural sceneries of the area. Recently, a small hillock named ‘Kashmir Tila’ has gained a huge amount of popularity among tourists and travelers for its tranquility. Hundreds of tourists per day are swarming in the area to enjoy the beauty of this newfound travel spot.

The ‘Kashmir Tila’ is situated at Goalbari union of Juri upazila in Moulvibazar. Being a place close to the border, for many years, the beauty of this spot was hidden due to lack of travel exposure.

During Ramadan of 2021, many tourists have visited the spot. Despite the lockdown was implied during Eid, many travelers and tourists spent time in this place. 

Local environmental activist Khorshed Alam upon asking said that a tourist named Shaheen Ahmed visited the place three years ago. After visiting the place, he published an article about the spot in a magazine book. In the article, he compared the scenic beauty with Kashmir and called it ‘Kashmir Tila’. From that, the name did spread among tourists and travelers. 

Due to the calm nature of this spot, travelers have experienced a meditation like vibe from this place. 

This place can be a good tourist spot if it gets proper publicity, he added.

Jillur Ahmed, a tourist said that many did not know about the place earlier. 

To have such a beautiful tourist spot in Sylhet region as lucky for the local tourists. Every day, hundreds of tourists come to the place with motorbikes. 

Ashraf Ali, Editor of ‘Jurir Samay’ said that many place of this upazila can be turned into tourist spots. 

If these sports are maintained properly, it can become a great revenue source for the government. 

How to go: After reaching Juri Bazar from Moulvibazar, one has to take the transport of Kachurgul area. Before reaching Kachurgul, you have to get down at Kalamati area. From there, motorbikes and cng vehicles are available to go to ‘Kashmir Tila’.
