Moulvibazar DC, Mayor start clean-up programme

Clean-up operation and eradication of Aedes mosquito larvae has been started to prevent the spread of Aedes mosquitoes in Moulvibazar town. Medicines are being sprayed in the courtyards and drains of the houses. This activity will continue for 15 days.

On Wednesday morning, Moulvibazar Municipality Mayor Fazlur Rahman presided over a clean-up operation at the southern end of the Shaheed Minar in the city and the eradication of Aedes mosquito larvae in the drain of Kashinath Alauddin field. The program was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Meer Nahid Ahsan. Municipal councilors and officials were present at the time. Deputy Commissioner and Municipal Mayor took part in the inaugural function.

Moulvibazar Municipality Mayor Fazlur Rahman said activities would continue in Ward 8 all day on Wednesday. Aedes mosquito larvae eradication and clean-up operations will be carried out in the entire municipal area in phases. 40 workers will work in the cleaning campaign every day. And there will be 2 vehicles to transport garbage. In addition, 10 machines will be used to destroy Aedes mosquito larvae in each ward of the municipality. Citizens will be made aware as well. 

Moulvibazar Municipality has taken up these programs to protect the citizens from mosquito-borne diseases including dengue. The concerned ward council, acting executive engineer Syed Nakibur Rahman and cleaning officer Abdul Matin will supervise these activities every day.
