Motorcycles seized, Tk 4 lakh recovered in Noakhali

Police recovered Tk 4,54,500 out of Tk 19 lakh snatched from Dutch Bangla Agent Banking from Chaumuhoni Bazar in Noakhali's Begumganj Upazila and seized three motorcycles used by the snatchers. Four people, including Juba League leader Amirul Islam Sujan, 28, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shahidul Islam confirmed the information at a press conference at his office on Thursday afternoon.

The arrested accused are Amirul Islam Sujan, 26, son of late Aji Ullah, organizing secretary of Durgapur Union Juba League in Begumganj, Jubaid Hossain Biplob, 26, son of Abul Kashem of Chaumuhani Karimpur area and Parvez, 30, son of Belal Hossain of Hajipur area. Hossain's son Sahabuddin (38).

According to the police, on June 20, Mozammel Hossain Jamshed went out from the area of Chaumuhani Atia Bari Bridge to collect Tk 19 lakh from various banks of SB Telecom, the master agent of Dutch Bangla Agent Bank. Jamshed was stopped on the way to the road with money from the bank and the money was snatched from him by the arrested members and other members of the snatching team. Later on June 21, the agent's director Saiful Bashar filed a case with the Begumganj police station.

According to the Superintendent of Police, four snatchers, including Juba League leader Sujan, were arrested in a raid in Chaumuhani Ganipur, Karimpur and Durgapur areas in collaboration with Begumganj Police Station from Wednesday night to Thursday morning on the basis of CCTV footage review and information technology. 

­Later, on the basis of the information given by them, 4 lakh 54 thousand 500 rupees snatched from Sahabuddin's house was recovered. They will be sent to the court for remand under Section 164 to reveal their statements and the mystery of the incident.
