A mother and her nine-month-old daughter were killed in a road accident at Mouchak Aambagan area under Kaliakair upazila in Gazipur on Sunday morning. The deceased were identified as Fatema, 35, wife of Idris Ali of Board Ghar area of the upazila, and her child daughter Arabi.
Anwar Mia, ASI of Konabari highway police station, confirmed the matter. The accident took place on Dhaka-Tangail Highway when a bus of Ajmeri Paribahan fell into a roadside ditch after driver of the bus lost control over driving. At that time, the mother and the child daughter died on the spot and five others were injured.
Police seized the bus but its driver managed to flee the scene, said the ASI. The bodies were sent to Shaheed Tazuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue and a case was filed in this connection.
