All the educational institutions of the country have been closed for a long time. The situation is similar at Alhaj Mostafa-Hakim College. The Mostafa-Hakim Welfare Foundation, the founding institution of the college, took the initiative to set up an isolation center instead of leaving the private college to address the shortage of medical services in Chittagong due to the Corona epidemic. Initially, it had a 30-bed isolation center with oxygen cylinders, but later it was upgraded to 50 beds, providing free medical care and food to patients, authorities said.
The isolation center was inaugurated at North Kattoli Mostafa-Hakim College adjacent to the city's city gate on Sunday morning.
Former Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation and Executive Director of Alhaj Mostafa-Hakim Welfare Foundation M Manzur Alam presided over the function. Chittagong-4 MP Didarul Alam was the chief guest at the inaugural function. Special guests were Dr. ShahriarKabir, Divisional Director of Department Health, Chittagong; Dr. Selim Akhter Chowdhury, Chief Health Officer of Chittagong City Corporation.
Speakers on the occasion welcomed the initiative of Mostafa-Hakim Foundation in the field of medical care.
