Tourists are flocking to the sea beach and nearby tourist spots in Cox’s Bazar again after a long break due to the Covid-19 pandemic since tourism-related sites were officially reopened on a limited scale on August 17.

Meanwhile, despite regular announcement via loudspeakers, most of the tourists don’t wear facemasks. If this trend continues, losses from

the pandemic's first wave may be recouped. Against this backdrop, the authorities concerned have taken strict measures to ensure the safety of tourists visiting the world’s largest beach and other spots. The district administration began carrying out mobile court and fining tourists for violating health protocols in not wearing masks.

A mobile court raided all points on the beach in Cox’s Bazar to deal with the second wave of corona on Sunday, reports our Cox’s Bazar Correspondent.

Three executive magistrates of the district administration launched the operation at Laboni, Sugandha and Kalatali points on the beach.

The drive fined tourists and traders who did not wear masks at the Burmese market on the beach and at the beach. The scene of the beach area changed entirely during the administration's drive.

In fear of being fined all started buying masks haphazardly. A fine of Tk 6,020 was levied on 42 tourists and traders for not using masks in the operation.

Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md. Kamal Hossain said the operation will continue to ensure compliance with mask.
