On the one hand, there are restrictions on leaving the houses for fear of coronavirus attack. Hence, doctors and the government advise to stay home and to maintaining physical distance to escape corona attack. On the other hand, mosquito infestation has added up life risks to stay indoors.

Kishoreganj people are in distress and hazards because of mosquito infestation and menace which may lead to dengue. In the prevailing situation two types of demands have been found in different areas of Kishoreganj municipal town.

Ordinary people say mosquitoes have increased; mosquito repellent is not being sprayed. However, the Mayor is claiming that they are spraying mosquito repellent regularly, the menace of mosquitoes is less than before.

Mosquitoes are growing in the municipal town because of not cleaning the drains regularly. Moreover, the citizens are complaining that mosquitoes are breeding in the drains and ponds scattered in different places as they are filled with dirty water and they are not cleaned regularly.

Murad Mahmud, a resident of Gaital in the municipal area, said the area is densely populated. As a result, we live with the risk of corona and mosquito. It goes without saying that there has been no mosquito spray since corona started. You can't stay indoors because of mosquito infestation.'

“There are mosquitoes at night and during the day. I have become impatient with the extreme menace of mosquitoes.  I cannot go to sit safely for a minute anywhere,” Arifur Rahman, a resident of Kharampatti in the municipal area, said this with regret.

Monisha Roy, a resident of Batrish in the municipal area, said, “I have been suffering from mosquito infestation for 24 hours. I did not see spraying mosquito repellent on a single day.

Palash Mahmud, a resident of Gaital in the municipal area, said he now has to endure mosquito bites even during the day. Low-income people and students are in more trouble.  Students are not able to read in the evening due to mosquito bites.

Good results are not being obtained by burning mosquito coils. Because if the coil is kept burning, there is a problem of breathing.

Kishoreganj municipality office sources said, so far we have not received any allocation for mosquito extermination.  However, with the efforts of the municipal mayor, mosquito eradication activities are going on in every ward.

Municipal Mayor Parvez Mia said Temefos 50% EC larvicide is being given to kill mosquitoes. So far we have not received any allocation for killing mosquitoes. Even though I have not been allocated, I am continuing the activities of killing mosquitoes.
