Morsalin return boosts booters

Bangladesh midfielder Sheikh Morsalin is set to return to the pitch after recovering from injury. Although he didn't score in his last four Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) matches, he contributed significantly to Bashundhara Kings with his overall performance. This is welcome news for the national team ahead of their two World Cup qualifiers in June.

While Morsalin's return is a positive development, injuries and yellow cards continue to cause problems for the squad. Defender Tariq Kazi is already sidelined with an ankle injury. Additionally, winger Foysal Ahmed Fahim hasn't played since the BPL's return phase began due to a groin strain. In the ongoing World Cup qualifiers, defender Biswanath Ghosh and midfielder Mojibur Rahman Johnny have picked up two yellow cards each, resulting in a ban for the upcoming match against Australia.

The national team training camp for the World Cup qualifiers will begin on June 1st. Coach Javier Cabrera will announce the final squad before the camp commences. While Morsalin's return is a relief for Cabrera, the multiple injuries and yellow cards have left him with a selection headache.

“Morsalin's return is a positive sign,” the Spaniard admitted. “It will be good to get him back into his rhythm. However, I can't say anything definitive about Tariq Kazi at this moment. We'll wait and see for as long as possible. Fahim will need time to recover, so someone else will likely have to take his place. It's unfortunate to be without Vishwanath and Johnny for the Australia match. Hopefully, the rest of the squad can make up for their absence.”
