It is encouraging to note that the government has undertaken five more metro rail projects in addition to the ongoing one to ease the communications between the capital Dhaka and its surrounding fringes and outskirts.  Needless to say, the new projects will bring about revolutionary changes in  the city’s communication system.

Reportedly, the total length of the Metrorail under these six projects is 128 kilometres and these projects will connect the capital with the Purbachal City, Gazipur, Ashulia of Savar and Narayanganj through Metrorail.

The work on metro rail project is going on in full swing. The government will open the Uttara-Agargaon section of the metro rail line-06 to the public on December 16. The inauguration has been timed to coincide with the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence. The five other projects are expected to be completed by 2030.

We hope that the project directors and other officials concerned

will implement these projects within the stipulated timeframe

putting an end to the trend of revising projects

It needs no mentioning that when implemented, these projects will not only strengthen the communication network in the city’s surrounding suburbs but also will play a major role in fixing the  capital’s overpopulation problem as many people instead of coming to capital city for dwelling will prefer to live in surrounding fringes and outskirts situated along the metro railway stations.

Reportedly, under the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, the 128.741 km- long project will have 67.569 km flyover and the rest 61.172 km will be underground.

We hope the proposed system will also offer faster commuting services at affordable price and carry a large number of passengers from one end to the other end with ease.  In this regard, we would like to thank the prime minister for her “wise, visionary and dynamic" leadership and tireless efforts in changing the course of communication development amid a sea of challenges and conspiracies along her way.

We believe after implementation of these projects people living in city and its suburbs will be provided modern, comfortable and time-bound transportation service. We hope that the project directors and other officials concerned will implement these projects within the stipulated timeframe putting an end to the trend of revising

projects and cost overrun. We believe authorities concerned will implement these projects at a faster pace maintaining the quality and standard of work.
