More instts in work to create skilled hands in textile sector

Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi (Bir Pratik) said that the establishment of more educational institutions is underway at the government level to create skilled human resources in the textile sector.

He made the remarks at an honorary ceremony organized by the Ministry of Textiles and Jute at Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Saturday to mark the 'National Textiles Day 2021'.

The minister said that works are underway to establish textile engineering colleges, textile institutes, textile vocational institutes, weaving training institutes and fashion design institutes at the government level to create skilled manpower for the textile sector. 

He also said that 'Dhaka Muslin House' is being set up to commercialize the golden tradition of muslin in Bangladesh.

Addressing the officials of the honored organizations, the minister said that the Ministry of Textiles and Jute is always trying to provide all kinds of cooperation to the concerned stakeholders in the textile sector. 

“The Ministry of Textiles and Jute will always be by your side to meet the challenges of the 21st century and the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” he said.

He said that due to the special incentives announced by the Prime Minister, the sector has been able to keep the national export trend free from the harmful effects of coronavirus.

Seven organizations were honored by the Ministry of Textiles and Jute on the occasion of National Textile Day 2021 for their contribution in protecting the textile sector from the effect of the ongoing global coronavirus disaster. 

These organizations include Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Bangladesh Textile Mills Association, Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association, Bangladesh Specialized Textile Mills and Powerloom Industries Association, Bangladesh Terry Towel and Linen Manufacturers and Exporters Association and Bangladesh National Weavers Association.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Textiles and Jute Mirza Azam, Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute Md Abdur Rauf, Additional Secretary Mohammad Abul Kalam, Director General of the Department of Textiles Md Nuruzzaman, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan, representatives of BKMEA, BTMA and other stakeholders in the textile sector and senior officials of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute were present during this time.
