Chittagong Medical College Hospital is increasing the number of beds in coronary care unit (CCU) of cardiology department. The new 15 beds are being given by the Hospital Patients Welfare Association.

Meanwhile, the process of bed addition has been started. The beds will be installed in CCU soon, authorities said.

CCU was introduced in the Department of Cardiology in 1989. Presently there are 16 beds in CCU. But it is very less than the patient. On average, 40 patients are admitted in CCU.

According to the department of cardiology department, there are 250 to 300 patients enrolled in the department regularly. Of these, more than one hundred patients are kept in CCU. But due to lack of beds many patients are deprived of the service.

Recently, Cardiology department has found that there are beds in the patients up to the porch. It is seen in the CCU, the patient was kept on the floor. The worse the condition of the normal bed.

Doctors said that the patient suffering from heart disease has to be admitted to CCU. If the service is provided within one hour of the attack, then the condition of the patient can be kept good. Otherwise there is a possibility of accidents.

Head of the Department of Cardiology Prabir Kumar Das said that patients suffering from cardiovascular disease have to be given CCU. But our beds are limited. Beds are low in CCU compared to demand.

"Meanwhile, the hospital patient welfare committee announced 15 beds. This is certainly a good initiative. Because the condition of heart disease becomes worse in a short time. Patients get the benefit of having a minimum bed. As a result, patients in critical condition will be able to sit in CCU."

He said, there is a medical crisis in the cardiology department. There is three times more patient pressure than the beds. There is not enough doctors in the division than that. It is difficult to provide patient care. There is also a crisis of specialist doctors. There is a shortage of junior doctors.

Hospital patient welfare association general secretary and social welfare officer Abhijit Saha said, "15 beds will be given in CCU of cardiac department.

Approximately 1 lakh 70 thousand rupees per bed cost were spent. As well as the CCU air conditioners (AC) will be repaired.

This hospital is still the treatment of greater Chittagong's healthcare.

All common diseases of the common complex are treated at the CMC hospital. In exchange for a ticket of Tk 25; the service was available in the hospital. However, the facilities are limited to patients. For this, the patient gets the services as per the requirement.

Every 6 to 9 hundred people were admitted to the hospital every day for emergency services. There are 2 to 3 thousand patients in regular hospital. Apart from this, 2.5 to 3 thousand patients were treated in the outside department.
