Month-long Kathin Chibor Dan festival begins in Bandarban

Kathin Chibar Dan, the biggest religious festival of Buddhist community in Chittagong Hill Tracts, began on Friday seeking global peace, prosperity and happiness. The month-long festival was inaugurated at the Arya Guha Dhutango Bimukti Vihara at Kalaghata of Bandarban in the morning.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of Kathin Chibordan functions, the Pindacharan function of Pujonio Bhikkhusangha was held through hoisting of the National and the religious flags and the recitation of the Mongol Sutra. Later on, a Dharmasava was held where Dr. F. Dipankar Mohathero, Vante of Arya Guha Dhutango Bimukti Vihara, delivered various religious sermons towards the Buddha Dayok-Dayeka and the devotees.

Buddhists of various upazilas of Bandarban, Rangamati and Khagrachhari assembled at the function and participated in the Panchashil prayer. They also presented various gifts to the Vantes. All Vantes of the Arya Guha also received 'Pindas' (the best foods) from the devotees.

Uzzal Tanchangya, Member Secretary of organising committee of the festival informed, the festival has already been started in some Buddha Viharas of Banderban. On Saturday, the festival will be started in some Buddha Viharas including at Balaghata Buddha Vihara and throughout the November, the festival will continue in phases at various Buddha Viharas of Banderban.
