The concluding ceremony of month long breast awareness campaign held at BRB Hospital in the capital on Monday.
BRB Hospital Director Mofizur Rahman speaks announced the conclusion of this month long campaign and put emphasize on building awareness to prevent the breast cancer.
The first successful liver transplant surgeon of Bangladesh, pioneer of hepatobiliary pancreatic surgery in Bangladesh and founder of National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh and chief professor of hepatobiliary and pancreatic department at BRB Hospital Md. Muhammad Ali was present as the chief guest at the event.
Department of Medicine Chief Consultant Dr. MA Bashar and Senior Consultant (Department of Nephrology) Dr. Md. Nizamuddin Chowdhury from BRB Hospital was present as the special guest while the hospital DMS and CEO Dr. MD. Mansoor Ali gave the welcome speech.
BRB Hospital Medical Oncology Chief Consultant Professor Dr. Mofazzal Hossain was the keynote speaker at the event among other speakers.
Speakers mentioned that one in eight women in the world is suffering from breast cancer.
Men are also affected by this cancer.
According to the international organization IARC, more than 13000 women are newly diagnosed with breast cancer in Bangladesh every year.
Breast cancer can be completely cured if detected early.
The speakers have also informed that Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) which is the first in Asia is conducting at BRB hospital.
BRB is the only hospital in Bangladesh that provides Breast Cancer treatment equal to Europe and America.
At this hospital, breast cancer is treated with acellular dermal matrix or ADM without removing the entire breast. BRB is the only hospital that uses this meathod of treatment for breast cancer.
