Mongla Port Authority celebrates Bangabandhu’s birth centenary

The Mongla Port Authority (MPA) has celebrated birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with due respect on Tuesday. The Port Authority earlier chalked out elaborated day-long programme marking the day.

The programme was begun with lighting of candles after one-minute past of the midnight followed by hoisting of the National flag and releasing balloons and pigeons at MPA premises. Officials of the MPA paid rich tribute to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at 9.30am at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Later, a discussion on the life, works and achievement of Bangabandhu and his struggle over Bangladesh’s independence was held at the conference room. Chairman of MPA Rear Admiral S M Abul Kalam Azad attended the discussion as chief guest while Yasmin Afsana, member (Finance) of MPA and Captain Mohammad Ali attended as special guests with Deputy Secretary of MPA Gias Uddin in the chair.

The programmes also include screening of documentary on “Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangladesh and distributed copies of ‘Bangabandhur Oshomapto Attojiboni’ among all the MPA staffs.

After Johr prayer, dua, milad mahfil and special prayers were also offered at MPA mosque seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu and continuous peace and prosperity of the nation.
