‘Mongla police begin new war against drugs’

A special anti-drug meeting was organized by Mongla Police Station to inform the youths about the dangers of drugs. Officer-in-Charge of the police station Mohammad Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury was present as the chief guest at a rally organized at Mongla Degree College and Ward No. 1 Burirdanga area on Monday.

The chief guest at the gathering said Bangladesh is moving forward as a leading country in the development of the world. The youth has an important role to play in this progress. “We want a drug free youth society to make full use of their talents. In addition to being drug-free, others need to be made aware to be drug-free. Only then will the development of the country be sustainable,” he added. 

For drug dealers, Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury further said, "You have to leave this area if you do not leave drugs. Mongla police have started a new war against drugs. The police of Mongla police station will always be on the ground to eradicate the drug dealers. 

The houses of the drug dealers will be marked with a red plug with  the inscription that it is the house of the drug dealer. No recommendation will be accepted after the arrest of drug dealers who have no identity. And the names of the recommenders will also be disclosed.”

Mongla Municipal Awami League General Secretary Alhaj Kamruzzaman Jasim addressed the gathering as a special guest. Mr. Nikhil Chandra Roy, Chairman of Burirdanga Union, Mr. Tushar Kumar Gain, Principal of Digraj Degree College, Imam of the mosque, Shyamal Dewan, General Secretary of Awami League, among others were present.
