Mohsin Ali Dewan’s martyrdom anniv today

Today is the 50th martyrdom anniversary of the martyred intellectual Principal Mohsin Ali Dewan. On this day in 1971, Mahasin Ali Dewan was abducted from his Bogura residence by Pakistani invaders with the help of Razakars.

At the time of his martyrdom, he was the principal of Bogura Sherpur Degree College and the editor of the weekly North Bengal Bulletin.

Mahasin Ali Dewan started his teaching career as a lecturer in the Bangla Department of Naogaon College. He later became a professor and head of the Bangla department at Bogura Azizul Haq College. He is one of the founders of Joypurhat College, Bogura Law College and Shah Sultan College.

Journalist Mohsin Ali Dewan, a martyred intellectual, started his journalism through Dhaka's daily Ittehad and Insaf. Literary Newspaper ‘Atayeb’ was published from Bogura in 1960 under his editing and publication. He also edited and published Bangladesh's first evening daily Janmat. He also was the founding president of Bogura Press Club.

The Bangladesh Postal Department issued a postage stamp in recognition of the sacrifice of the martyred intellectual Mohsin Ali Dewan. The present government named a highway in Bogra after him. TMSS, the largest development agency, has introduced the Shaheed Mohsin Ali Dewan Award for Journalism.
