Mohiuddin Ahmed laid to eternal rest at Banani graveyard

Founder of the University Press Limited (UPL) Emeritus Publisher Mohiuddin Ahmed laid to his eternal rest at Banani Graveyard in the city on Tuesday afternoon.

He was buried following his namaz-e-janaza at Gulshan Azad mosque after Zuhr prayers.

Earlier, Mohiuddin's daughter Mahrukh Mohiuddin wrote in a Facebook post, "My father, Publisher Emeritus Mohiuddin Ahmed breathed his last at 12:59 am this morning at the age of 77". 

"He (Mohiuddin) has been a brave survivor of Parkinson's disease for nearly 20 years, fought a strong battle with Covid and survived," Mahrukh wrote.

     Mohiuddin left behind his wife, two daughters, a son and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death. 

     Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, meanwhile, expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Emeritus Publisher Mahiuddin Ahmed.

     In a condolence message, the Prime Minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

     Besides, Bangla Academy acting Director General and Secretary AHM Lokman also condoled the death of Bangla Academy fellow and veteran author Mohiuddin and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
