Mohibul urges university teachers to ensure quality education

Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury on Saturday urged university teachers to ensure quality education to meet the challenge of the competitive world. 

“Our teachers should keep in mind that the world is getting more competitive and the challenges are increasing day by day. So it’s important to train graduates as skilled manpower so that they can meet any new challenge,” he said while addressing a seminar as the chief guest at Dhaka University. 

Bangladesh College-University Teachers' Association organised the seminar titled “Bangabandhu’s Education Thought and Present Perspective” at Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of the Social Science building in observance of the World Teachers’ Day.

The deputy minister said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted a work-oriented, science-based, non-discriminatory and non-communal education system which was reflected in the Qudrat-e-Khuda Education Commission.

Speaking on the occasion as a special guest, DU Teachers’ Association President Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal urged the government to establish a research university where the number of Master’s and PhD students will be more than or similar to undergraduate ones.

Bangladesh College-University Teachers' Association President Prof Nur Mohammad Talukder presided over the function while Honorary Professor of DU Psychology department Dr Md Azizur Rahman, Prof Dr Sheikh Abdus Salam and Prof Dr Kaberi Gayen of DU Mass Communication and Journalism department were present.
