Mohammedan’s Lokman sent to jail

A Dhaka court on Sunday sent M Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan, director-in-charge of Mohammedan Sporting Club, to jail after scrapping his bail plea in a case lodged under Narcotics Control Act, reports BSS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan passed the order as investigation officer and sub-inspector (SI) of Tejgaon Police Station Qamrul Islam produced the accused before the court after end of his two-day remand in the case and pleaded to keep him behind bars. Lokman’s counsel, however, moved his bail plea before the court. After hearing both the sides, the court sent the accused to jail.

A Dhaka court on October 3 placed M Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan on a two-day remand for the third time in the case. Another Dhaka court on September 27 placed the accused on a two-day remand in the case, followed by another two-day remand on September 30. Team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-2 arrested Lokman, also a director of Bangladesh Cricket Board, from Tejgaon Monipuripara’s home on the night of September 25, for running casino by renting a part of his club. RAB also recovered four bottles of foreign liquor from his home.

The elite crime busting agency filed the case against him with Tejgaon Police Station and handed him over to the police at 6 pm on September 26. RAB sources said Lokman in the primary interrogation confessed earning crores from the casino in Mohammedan club and deposited the money in two Australian bank accounts.
