Mohammad Ali, councilor of ward 6 and panel mayor, has taken charge as the acting mayor of Jamalpur's Sarishabari municipality. He officially took over as acting mayor at the municipal office on Wednesday afternoon.
Former Commander of Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad Mofazzal Hossain, Deputy Secretary of District Awami League Zahurul Islam Manik, General Secretary of Upazila Juba League Monirul Islam Rony, Senior Vice President Farid Ahmed, General Secretary of Municipal Juba League and Municipal Mayor candidate Sumon Chakladar were present during the occasion.
It is learned that a circular signed by Farzana Mannan, Deputy Secretary (Municipality-2 Branch) of the Local Government Department of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives was issued on Sunday. The authorities decided to dismiss Roknuzzaman Rokon in the face of fleeing ICT cases, mistrust of councilors. He was also expelled from the Awami League.
