Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Saturday said that they are working to change the ‘wrong perception’ about Bangladesh to draw more foreign investments.

He said Bangladesh is sometimes described as a poverty-stricken country and hard hit by natural disasters like cyclones.

“We want complete change of such narratives in the world,” he said, “We want to help the world know that Bangladesh is a land of opportunities with its vibrant economy”.

He was talking to reporters after inaugurating ‘Bangabandhu Gallery and Library’ at the State Guesthouse Meghna, marking the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen was also present.

The foreign minister highlighted the programmes taken by the foreign ministry to brand Bangladesh abroad using 78 missions.

“We have opened Bangabandhu Corners in 68 missions so far. Bangladesh and Bangabandhu are inseparable,” he said.

“Nobody can stop Bangladesh. We are walking towards building Sonar Bangla by 2041,” he said.

Bangladesh is celebrating the birth centenary of Bangabandhu which will continue till December 2021. The country will celebrate 50 years of its War of Liberation in 2021.

Different countries including neighbouring India which helped Bangladesh to get independence joined in the celebration.

On December 17, Mauritius inaugurated a street after the name of Bangabandhu in Port Louis.
