There is no alternative to setting up modern industrial parks to survive the industrial and production competition with the big countries of the world at this time of the fourth industrial revolution.
Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said this while addressing as chief guest the inaugural function (virtual) of Energypack Industrial Park of Energypack Power Generation Limited (EPJL) at Sreepur in Gazipur on Saturday.
Humayun Rashid, Managing Director (MD) and CEO of EPJL delivered the welcome address. Among others, EPJL Chairman Eng. Rabiul Alam and Director Enamul Haque Chowdhury spoke. EPJL directors Nurul Akter and Rezwanul Kabir, independent directors Mohammad Nurul Amin and Mikael Shipar, among others, were present on the occasion.
He said ,“under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, even in this time of Coronavirus pandemic, where big countries are struggling, both our life and livelihood are running and industrial factories are also running. The people of the country have not become completely unemployed”.
“The present government has been working for the last 12 years for the industrial development of the country as it is industry- friendly, and that is why, new industrial parks are being set up in the country. By establishing industrial park, Bangladesh will create massive employment in 2041 along with rich industrial countries. Due to the dedicated efforts of all, the industrialization and production of Bangladesh have reached its present state,” he added.
The Industries Minister further said , “Despite the Covid-19, Bangladesh was able to maintain 5.24 percent of GDP last year. The second wave of the pandemic is continuing. In order to keep the national economy afloat, industrial factories have been set up under special management in compliance with the hygiene rules so that people may not be unemployed”.
He further said that one of our local companies built an industrial park, a commendable initiative. This energypack industrial park will create opportunities for economic development and employment.
Humayun Rashid, MD and CEO, said the Energypack Industrial Park would take the power generation sector to new heights and boost the economy. The park will make a huge contribution to the power and transport sector as well as the infrastructural development of the country.
The state-of-the-art Energypack Industrial Park has a world-class plant capable of testing up to 1.5 megawatts and producing 500 GLAD brand generators annually, which will be able to test loads of up to 3 MW in the future and the plant will be able to produce 1,000 GLAD generators.
Moreover, Energypack is planning to build and market a world-class electric DB box. The park also has an assembling plant for JAC commercial vehicles, where 1,200 vehicles can be assembled each year. The capacity will be increased to 1,500 and plans are afoot to build a bus assembling plant and electric vehicles. It has a plant for making prefabricated steel bidding with an annual production capacity of 16,000 metric tonnes.
