State Minister for Religious Affairs M Faridul Huq Khan today said that the model mosques will play the key role to preach and disseminate proper teachings of Islam.
"Directives will be given at the respective areas from the model mosques to lead the people to the pathways which had been shown by Hazrat Muhammad (PUBH) as per the directives of Almighty Allah," he said.
The state minister was addressing as the chief guest at a discussion after inaugurating first Jumah prayer at Islampur Upazila Model Mosque here arranged by the Islamic Foundation of Islampur.
"Model Mosque will raise awareness among people about terrorism, militancy and anarchy in the name of Islam," he said.
The model mosques will also create awareness among the people about various social problems like drug addiction, child marriage, eve-teasing and violence against women, he added.
Chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer M Rukunuzzaman Khan, the programme also was addressed, among others, by Islampur Upazila Chairman Advocate SM Jamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury Babul, Islampur Municipality Mayor Abdul Quader Sheikh, Islamic Foundation Director Anisur Rahman Sarker and Model Mosque construction project's deputy director M Shafiqur Rahman Talukder.
