The government is working to bring all mobile services under one platform to facilitate the citizens enjoy the facilities from handsets, Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said.

While addressing the inauguration of Smartphone and Tab Expo,   The Minister urged the mobile manufacturers to emphasis on content development for increasing usages of smart phone for the sake of market development.

The three-day expo was inaugurated at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in capital’s Agargaon on Thursday.

Event management firm– ExpoMaker organised the twelfth edition of the show in the country.

“The government, together with different stakeholders in the private sector, has been working to ensure safer internet for all. Smart phone represents majority of internet users. The manufacturers should focus on security aspect of every single device,” Mustafa said.

The minister said the smart phone becomes a part of the daily life as the smart devices represent 30 percent of total 100 million handsets used across the country.

 “We never discourage the technology business. The increase in import duty will lead the market driven firms to local manufacturing by setting up local workshops which will inject more foreign investment to the economy,”  Mustafa Jabbar said defending the government’s budgetary measures for the mobile phone business.

Mustafa Jabbar said there are several foreign firms including Samsang who has installed local assembling centres alongside of local brands. This has created thousands of employments in this emerging sector.

Samsung Bangladesh Country Manager Seungwon Youn, Huawei Technologies Bangladesh Sales Director Junior Salahuddin Sanjee, Oppo Bangladesh Brand Head Mr Iono, DX Tel Retails Operation Head JM Hasan Saif, Vivo Bangladesh Operations Head Mr Angus, Smart Technologies Telecom Business Director Shakib Arafat and ExpoMaker’s Strategic Planner Muhammad Khan were present.

Officials informed that the participating companies have experienced ‘satisfactory crowd’ at the expo throughout the day.

Technology lovers get favorite accessories alongside of smart phone and tablet from the fair. World-renowned brands including– Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo, Motorola, iPhone, Nokia, Maximus, RealMe, Umidigi, DTel are participating the expo while Shurovi Enterprise and Bijoy bring innovative smart devices. Kaspersky is the cyber security partner of the fair.

The companies project and sell the smart devices and accessories under one place while several new smartphones will be unveiled during the expo, according to organisers.

ExpoMaker’s Strategic Planner Muhammad Khan said the leading local and international smart phone brands participate at the carnival and project latest technology and design of smart gadget.

Technology lovers get favorite accessories alongside of smart phone and tablet from the fair, according to the organiser. Participant companies will unveil new products at the expo while the visitors also can compare offers and gifts of all brands under one place as tradition, added Muhammad Khan.

Smartphone brands – Huawei, Oppo and Samsung are the platinum sponsors while DX Tel and Vivo are tagged as gold sponsors for this edition of expo. Motorola named as Silver sponsor and overseas education consulting firm EduMaker continues partnership to the happening.

There are three platinum-sponsored pavilions, two gold-sponsored pavilions and a silver pavilion for exposing devices specially.

There has already been started competition online for the tech geeks on Facebook page at bit.ly/2XbG4eY where contestants will get opportunities to win attractive prizes including smart phone. The expo arena will open from morning 10 am to night 8 pm during the scheduled timeline. Entry fee is Tk 20 per person while school and college goers get free access with uniform. The organisers announced to donate the ticketing fund for treatment of critical patient.
