Mobile court realises fine of Tk 16,900

A mobile court has imposed a fine of Tk 16,900 in 12 cases for ignoring the ongoing lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of corona virus in various ways in Mirzaganj upazila of Patuakhali.

The cases were filed for various reasons including arranging a wedding, leaving house unnecessarily, opening shops and not following hygiene rules defying the strict lockdown.

According to local sources, Md Rakib, son of Habibur Rahman of Uttar Subidkhali village of Amragachia Union got married to Meem Akhter, daughter of Badal Talukder of South Amragachia village of the same union under Mizaganj. 

On Sunday noon, the bride's family organised a post wedding ceremony at their house. The groom went there with half a hundred guests. 

Upon receiving the news, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md Raihan Uzzaman conducting a mobile court fined the bride's mother Tk 2,000 and the groom's father Tk 5,000.

Besides, the AC (Land) and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tania Ferdous also collected a fine of Tk 9,900 in ten cases for violating lockdown by conducting mobile courts in different parts of the upazila on the same day.

AC (Land) Md Raihan Uzzaman said that corona infection is increasing day by day. 

Meanwhile, people are going out of their houses on various pretexts without heeding the strict rules and regulations of the government. So we will continue this drive to implement strict lockdown in the upazila.
