A mobile court in Kolapara, Patuakhali, has seized 35 maunds of banned juvenile hilsa (jatka) from six passenger buses.
On Sunday night at 9:00 PM, Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Yasin Sadeq conducted a raid at the Kolapara municipal bus stand and confiscated the fish. Six bus drivers were fined 12,000 taka each for illegally transporting the fish.
Later, around 10:30 PM, the seized fish were distributed among 50 orphanages and impoverished people.
Executive Magistrate Yasin Sadeq said the raid was conducted based on a tip-off. He stated that the campaign against juvenile hilsa will continue, and legal action will be taken against the fishermen involved.
