A mobile court in Gournadi fined Tk 1 lakh 10 thousand to SSM brick field owner on the charge of destroying agricultural land by cutting soil and burning timber on Monday in Barishal.
According to court sources, the unlicensed SSM brick kiln were making bricks by cutting the soil from the agricultural land and destroying wood as wood were burnt in that kiln for fuel.
On the basis of secret information, Gournadi Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Upazila Mobile Court Executive Magistrate Md. Ariful Islam Prince conducted a operation on Monday. After proven the accusation in front of the court , the owner of the brick kiln Mamun Khan was fined a total of Tk one lakh and 10 thousand and sentenced him 21 day of imprison .
Gournadi sub-engineer Ahidur Rahman and Gournadi Model Police Station and Gournadi Fire Service Station staff and members assist the court. The Assistant Commissioner of Gournadi Upazila (Land) and the Upazila Mobile Court Executive Magistrate Md Ariful Islam Prince said, “During the campaign, the court found the brick field was not licensed. And the owner was destroying the farmland by cutting soils and burning woods.” Owner of the brick field informed the court that he has applied for the license and soon he will get the license . As a result, the court has set a time limit for him to be licensed within 45 days.
