Mobile court drives increased in Moulvibazar, 47 cases lodged

Moulvibazar district administration officials with various law enforcement agencies have increased activities to impose the lockdown and hygiene regulation in the town. Almost every pedestrian is facing personnel of law enforcement agencies in multiple check posts. Magistrates in the town on Sunday increased the number of drives to maintain proper lockdown.

Officials of the district administration said that a total to 47 cases have been lodged and 27 people were detained for violating the lockdown regulation on Sunday in Moulvibazar Sadar upazila. Joint task force combined with teams of Bangladesh Army, RAB, BGB, Police and Ansar personnel are assisting the magistrates to run mobile courts swiftly in the town. 

Executive magistrates on Sunday conducted multiple drives at Shahshernagar Road, Chadni Ghat, Choumuhana, Paschimbazar, Kusumbag, Bus stand area and other major points in the town from morning. Several check posts have been installed besides market areas.  Police and other law enforcement agency personnel have been seen stopping cars, motorbikes and rickshaws at the check posts. Those who could not show any valid reason to roam outside during the lockdown were fined. 10 mobile courts conducted several raids to shopping malls and other places and fined multiple shop owners for opening their shops during lockdown. During the drives, 27 people were detained for violating hygiene regulations. Meanwhile, movement throughout the town were less than Saturday and Friday. Most of the shops remained closed in the town. Officials said that 22 mobile courts are actively monitoring the situation in the town. Among them, 10 teams are working at Moulvibazar town and 12 are working on the other six upazilas. 

UNOs, executive magistrates, assistant commissioners are leading the mobile courts. 7 platoon Armed Forces, 3 platoon BGB, 2 platoon RAB, 2 platoon Ansar and multiple teams of Moulvibazar district police are assisting the mobile courts. 

Moulvibazar Deputy Commi­ssioner Mir Nahid Ahsan said that district administration officials are actively working to contain the situation. Law enforcement agencies are also assisting the mobile courts. Several cases have been fined. 

He at the time urged people of the town to remain at home and not to come out of their homes without emergency reasons.
