Mobarakganj sugar mill workers demand payment of arrears

Hundreds of agitated workers and employees of state owned Mobarakganj sugar mills limited in Kaliganj of Jhenaidah have formed human chain and submitted memorandum to Prime Minister (PM) in front of the main gates of the mills on Saturday morning when the authorities was not paying about Taka 17 crore for last few years. 

The agitated workers and employees have warned the mills authorities to demonstrate and a mass gathering and form human chain on September 6 and symbolic fasting programme in front of the Shilpabhaban and ministry of industries on the next day.

Mobarakganj sugar mills limited (Mochik) workers and employees’ union welfare association president Abdul Kader, general secretary Mostafa Abdul Jalil, Mockix workers union ex general secretary Atiar Rahman and Sohel Ahmed among others spoke.

The agitated workers and employees said, the authorities are showing least interest in paying the dues of the retired staff for last couple of years that risen to Taka about 17 crore. A number of workers and employees have arleady died suffering from various diseases as they could not ensure their treatment. Further, a number of them were suffering badly with their family members for want of money, while they should be given their gratuity and other allowances.    

The human chain soughed they will form human chain and organized a mass gathering in front of shilpabhaban and ministry of industry on September 6, while stage symbolic hunger strike if thei8r demands were not fulfilled.
