One robber was killed and two others were seriously injured in a mob attack by local residents in Kalagachia area of Narayanganj early Saturday.
According to locals, the robbers first attempted a robbery in the Shambhupura area of Sonargaon while traveling by trawler. Villagers chased them, and the robbers fled to Kalagachia, where they were surrounded by residents.
Three robbers were caught, while the others managed to escape. During the mob attack, one robber was killed on the spot, and the other two sustained serious injuries.
Upon receiving information, the Kalagachia river police rushed to the scene and rescued the two critically injured robbers from the crowd, taking them to the hospital. The body of the deceased robber was recovered and sent to the morgue.
OC Mamun Pathan of Narayanganj river police said the identities of the injured robbers could not be confirmed as they were unable to speak. Efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased, and preparations for filing a case are underway.
